IPL ban for 1 year

IPL chairman Rajiv Shukla has announced that Steven Smith and David Warner will not be allowed to play in IPL 2018. This because of their roles in the pre-meditated plan to tamper with the ball on the third day of the Cape Town Test against South Africa and follows Cricket Australia’s decision of banning the duo for 12 months.

The IPL allowed both franchises to pick a replacement player. Royals have already named Ajinkya Rahane as their captain for the season.
South Africa’s Heinrich Klaasen will replace Steve Smith in the Rajasthan Royals squad. Alex Hales to replace David Warner at Sunrisers Hyderabad.
